Dandelion, Montaigne Porté Sorcerer
When I first met this fellow, I mistook him for a giant parrot, such was the way he dressed and nattered on for hours on end about nothing in particular. And those songs and poems he keeps coming up with! Still he's interesting to have around, and that bullet catching trick is really quite neat. B.
One of two identical twin boys. I was born second which makes me (according to Montaigne Law) the sixth son. My twin Louis is counted as the seventh son. We had a younger brother Leon who was the apple of Mother's eye. Unfortunately he died. Up to then we had a great childhood and adolescence playing tricks on everyone and spending time with the servants and hiding from the rest of the family. Mother was not so powerful as to have a blooded item permanently on us and sometimes we tricked her into putting two on Louis. He always enjoyed reading more than me. So when she would keep "tabs" on us he would read quietly in the library. Louis is not as reckless and discovered that creative solutions often avoid problems. As a result he is quieter and hasn't been in as many scrapes and needed to learn as much in the school of hard knocks. I ended up doing more tests and learnt a bit more. Father is an ambassador for L'Empreur and is currently based at the Labyrinth in Paix. He took us on some of his placements. To stop mischief he took us without our twin and as a result we learnt different languages. He tried to encourage us to develop different skills. He was partly successful although I ended up doing more study covering for Louis as an adolescent. We attended Le Grande University in Charouse. Louis and I failed to gain entry to the Musketeers. I was sent to the Martial academy in Charouse (Leveque War College) and Louis was forced to stay with Mother after the death of Leon. She wanted at least one of her sons to live with her. He managed to move to Paix and joined the Venerable order of esteemed gentlemen. I frequented pubs in Charouse (picked up able drinker) and was desperately lonely.
As a reckless young man I thought it best to leave Montaigne. This avoids the problems of smirching the family name. This is why I use the name Dandelion a flower that travels (it also has the same initial as my name). As my surname could cause trouble I keep it secret. Louis picked a "nom de Plume" as well which is Lucerne. This is a plant he says that has deep roots (stays at home) and starts with the same initial as his name. I can't bear the thought of being attached to Mother's other apron string but this means I must be parted from Louis. If I must be parted from Louis I might as well stay well away.
I have vowed to do whatever my brother requests of me. Especially in the light of our upbringing and his sacrifice of staying with mother.
Mother was from the Duboise family and she insisted that I take Ambrose an old family retainer with me. Ambrose smothers me ever since I saved his job. He is the only person who can detect the difference between us twins (probably from a faint duelling scar on my left wrist). He has been my valet ever since I was a child. My father thinks I am a scamp, mother thinks I am a child but I would like to be someone in my own right. I dream of being a famous writer.
Currently in Eisen avoiding my relatives and possibly checking on things for the Venerable Order of Esteemed Gentlemen for Louis. I hope he won big for 'Beef Lucerne [made with black sap]. I write him at 7 pm every day. Have our own shorthand [twin language]. He transcribes the notes we send. The worst thing about Eisen is the "food". The best is this party which keeps me amused.
