Citizens of Freiburg part I

Dear Lucerne,

I have some important news. It seems that a known criminal known as Felix du Paix had stolen a Puzzle blade in Buche before he came here. Do you know anything about this?

I suppose I should tell you from the beginning what happened. Our resident Vodacce Giancarlo was slumming around. He was offered information which he obtained. Apparently the Mad Wolves were moving back to their old haunt the Old Carriage House. I wished I had checked who owned it when I was at the city records office. Action was rumored as well. Borstenn had been working on a spell [the rune Fornuft and a metal basin] that allowed him to look on things from a distance.

He checked out the Old Carriage House and saw that there was a standoff between a Montaigne (similar in build and appearance to General Montague but with a large scar down the side of his face) and some of the others. We decided to drop around to welcome them back. Borstenn gave us some of his ridiculous disguises and we headed off. I snuck up to check what was happening. I heard that they weren't going to tackle their foes yet as they would be removed another way. Maybe they were talking about us. Wilhelm and Axel weren't content with this and wanted action and confronted the Montaigne. I head the sound of a brawl break out and returned to the others with this news. We all proceeded back and heard that Wilhelm had been slain and also a curious sound like tearing or cutting parchment. We climbed up to the next level windows except myself who covered the gates. Inside Franz launched the attack by crying "for Wilhelm". This gave three rogues the chance to scarper out the back door. I moved around and looked in the open door.

Franz was heavily engaged by some brutes and the Montaigne. Giancarlo downed two brutes then was grappled; the henchman that endangered him moved to block Borstenn and Eduarde into the far corner. The fight was stiff but Franz seemed to be getting the worst of it. The Montaigne had a puzzle blade that seemed made of a strange metal that seemed very well balanced. I would guess that it would be a Detruire blade. I joined the fray and cut down a brute crossing the room to see the sword. After my entrance they all decided to run off. Unfortunately "Felix" was swift and his brutes hampered our pursuit. We searched carefully and found an envelope which had been sealed but only half of the seal showing an E remained. Damn! We failed to find evidence against Erhart.

At the end of the fight Kelby Loring leader of the Wachhunde appeared. He was happy the Mad Wolves had been set back but disappointed that no clues lead on and that Felix had escaped. He said our ridiculous disguises were a hindrance not a help. He said that Felix was wanted by the Musketeers something about an incident in Buche. Obviously Lucerne, we would like to know more. I wonder... I am sure you could find out if it is one of our family's blades.

Borstenn used his farseeing talent later to check on Herr Erhart's study and saw Erhart berating Felix.
