part 1 part 3

Baron Drachenheim part II

by Pistol (?)

To his fellow druids, Caerwyddich Bard of Carrig sends greetings. You have asked to be kept informed of the dreams of the Misbegotten one called Pistol and this sending continues the riddle of his beliefs since he left our shores.

He has once more made his way to Freiburg in Eisen, a town where he appears to be respected and well-loved. His habit of drinking to excess is under control and he has lately only consumed alcohol for medicinal purposes, as a prophylactic measure against mosquitoes [yes, yes I know, but its what he believes...] and to the minimum extent necessary to avoid giving offence to others [this part rather vague, seems to happen quite frequently..?].

He has fallen in with his old companions and made new friends. All of them are living in a commune known as Drachenheim where peace and brotherhood reigns and there is no concept of property [except in the case of one Franz who seems to feel very possessive about some curdled buttermilk in the cellar....strange....].

His interest in medical soothsaying was recently enlivened by the family opposite the commune who let on that they had recently received a riddle from interior decorators known as the Mad Wolves. Apparantly these Wolves are able to divine the portents in a similar way to ourselves and had prophesied to the family that staying in their house would not be good for their health. As a result the family had sold their house for a bad price to Lord Erhardt [no relation to Emilia]. He also appears to own the houses on either side.

The Misbegotten and his friends waited to speak some more to these Mad Wolves [who appear to have worked recently in Drachenheim,... there is a sense of unfinished business]. When they appeared some discussion ensued which led to the Misbegotten diagnosing amnesia and attempting to administer a cure as we taught him ["knock some sense into them" was his intention]. Things did not go well for him however and he is lucky that his friends Borstenn, Jill, Giancarlo and Dandelion were able to assist.

Borstenn then appears to have politely enquired as to the location of the Mad Wolves office and the whole commune repaired there to discuss repairs. They left a note of some kind [a specification ???] and some stayed while others, including the Misbegotten, left. An unfortunate incident appears to have occurred with a chamberpot and Don Carlos' boot. [Haven't we Bards all been there ?] The Misbegotten however believes that things could have been much worse, it could have been aimed at him.

Dandelion and Giancarlo then engaged in races with the Mad Wolves (which they won) who encouraged them with friendly buffets. Good sport seems to have been had by all.

When the laughing companions all returned to the commune they had a caller who gave them an invitation to a Ball. Apparantly the Misbegotten has made quite a hit in town and the Eisenfürst wishes to express his appreciation in a tangible way.

Some hours later the commune called again upon the Mad Wolves but it appears they had departed suddenly without leaving a forwarding address.

Don Carlos then engaged in a short recruiting drive for the Wolf Clan with the surrounding populace. This seems to be a rival firm of interior decorators being established in Freiburg, it is possible that they are led by a lycanthrope !

Later that day the Misbegotten visited a kind of school called the "Drachen Wing". When he arrived a teacher was tutoring a pupil. The Misbegotten helped teach the young lad a lesson and then engaged in discoure with the teacher. It appears that part of the ritual dialectic in which they participated requires the ceremonial imbibation of spiritous liquors and the Misbegotten made a rare exception to his usual rule of temperance [????]. As a consequence of all this learning the Misbegotten ascertained that the Mad Wolves recruited at the Bone Bridge during the evening.

That evening Borstenn's predilictions for the theatre seem to have led him to apply make up to other members of the commune and light out for the Bone Bridge where they entertained the general populace. The happy crew made its way home once more with many a merry jape.

The next day the companions visited Wilma Probst to RSVP to the invitaion to the Ball. Franz bribed the guards with 200 pairs of underwear and tins of bootblack. What the guard will do in return the Misbegotten is waiting to see but he expects great things of this investment.

The remainder of the day the merry friends were all a twitter about what they would wear to the Ball. Don Carlos and Eduarde will be assisting the Misbegotten to understand Eisen fashion. Giancarlo has bargained for a new set of leathers with some "magnifique" velvet trim. What the others will wear remains to be seen...they can hardly wait.
