part 3

The Ballad of Fritz the Tinker

Here's the full version of the song Franz made up on our way from the village. Needless to say, the villagers didn't think much of it, I don't think we'll receive a warm welcome if we venture that way again. Perhaps next time we should leave them to deal with the werewolf themselves!

When Fritz the Tinker came to town
He gathered all the children 'round.
Taught them all a little tune
To lure them out by the light of the moon.

And when the children came to dance,
Fritz the Wolf-man saw his chance.
The kiss of Death did he bestow--
The secret of Fritz did no-one know.

The men of Montaigne and Eisen-proud
Stood ready 'neath a battle cloud.
For each the other held to blame--
Fritz had made a pretty frame.

When Franz von Tannen and his band
arrived and saw the battle planned,
Quickly did the tale unfold
With clues from the stories that they were told.

While overhead did the full moon shine,
Fritz they trailed into a mine.
And when the moon again they saw
Fritz the Wolf-man was no more.

And so they managed to stop a war
by telling the armies what they saw.
Franz and his friends went on their way
hoping for peace with each... new... day.
