Hi Lionesses and Lions of the Maroubra Lions Club,

If Robert Bunton is not lying like Lions do in hot weather, some of you were so impressed with my account of Oktoberfest & Market Day that you asked Robert to ask me if there was anything your club could do for people with disabilities.

Altogether I DON'T receive a service, I am on the Management Committee of Eastern Respite and Recreation which provides respite and recreation to people with disabilities from 0 to 65 years of age living in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney living with a primary carer.    E.R. & R. also runs adult day programmes such as Post School Options, Transition to Work and Community Participation.     Most of the E.R & R's funding is provided by the Department of Aging, Disabilities, and Home Care.

This Organisation rents two houses to enable us to provide our clients with recreational activities and living skills training.   Our clients have intellectual and physical disabilities or both. Unfortunately our funding body does not provide enough funds to cover ongoing garden maintenance at these two centres.

Physical Labour would be much more appreciated than monetary donations towards the upkeep of these two gardens ( one towards Eastgardens on the Maroubra Road and the other at Rosebery), but any assistance would be welcomed.        For more information please contact Gordana Barbaric, the new Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Respite & Recreation in business hours on (02) 9349 4666.

Saturday  December 3  You are invited to Multiple District Governors Dinner Dance and Fun Night Out (up to 80 District Governors and Vice Governors from all over Australia will be there ) sponsored by Coogee and Maroubra Lions Club.  The theme is Blues Brothers so bring along your dark sunnies and black and whites.  South Coogee Bowling  Club in Moverley Road  7 for 7:30  delicious hot and cold buffet.
