About Us
Availability of pups and older dogs
Please note: Most show dog people, as are we, are not commercial breeders.
Nor are we pet shops or agents for commercial breeders, so don't expect to be able
to call and choose a puppy 'off the shelf'. We are first and foremost companions of the dogs who we live with. As aficionados
of the breed we show our dogs in conformation shows in order gain recognition that
the dogs we breed are as close to the standard (ideal) as we can breed them to be.
Our aim is to breed a dog that is of sufficient quality to not only win 'Best
of Breed (BOB', but go on to win 'Best in Group (BIG)' and 'Best in
Show (BIS)'. This means that when we have a winning dog we will continue
to campaign it until we breed a dog able to beat that one. We only have a
new litter when we are looking for a new dog to campaign as far as it can go.
On average we expect to have a litter about every 18 months to 2 years. To date all of our past show dogs represent the 'first of' and are still
with us. So we have our first dog, his first pup (bred by another breeder), her
first pup and so on... As we are still relatively new to the dog show world and to this breed (and live
in a suburban quarter acre block) we are only just now reaching the point where
we will have too many dogs to keep. In the future we may have retired show
dogs available for re-homing. As they become available we will post notices
on this site. If you are interested in a puppy from us and are prepared to wait please contact
us and we will place you on our contact list for the next litter. If you are looking for a puppy or dog now, you should look at our links page and contact breeders we list there. You can also contact the Friends of the Italian Greyhound (FIGS). The 'Litters' page on their site lists breeders who have dogs available for re-homing. One final note:
Now that you have read this far, and would still like to enquire about a dog
from us please download and read the attached 'Adoption Application'. We
ask our puppy buyers to complete it as we are very selective with the homes our
Iggies go to. The point of the form is to help us and prospective puppy buyers
to make an informed choice by raising some of the issues involved in having an IG.
This helps us to feel confident about the home that our precious baby is going to.
Unless otherwise agreed, all of our pet puppies are sold on condition that they are de-sexed when they are old enough. We will post our contract here soon for you to peruse before deciding to purchase a puppy from us. |
