Staff Faith Development in the Catholic Primary School 

Research Focus / Title

Spirituality and faith development of staff in Catholic Primary Schools in the Broken Bay Diocese. 

Research Questions to be addressed:

* What makes a Catholic School, Catholic?

* How has research addressed the issue of staff spirituality in Catholic School?

* What support has the Broken Bay Diocese given in the faith development of school staff?

* What guidelines already exist within schools?

* Examine the needs for set guidelines in R.E. and Faith Development.

Project Description and Methodology: 

Prepare a Rationale

Definitions

* faith development / spirituality is there a difference?  what are the differences?

Review Literature

* journals, internet etc

* to familiarise ourselves with current studies and practise of spirituality in staff and faith development

* defining different approaches from different schools, areas, countries

* familiarising ourselves with current procedure, policy ie Shaping our Future, publications from the Bishop's Office (dialogue with Bishop if at al possible)

Needs Analysis

* development of questions for classroom teachers and school executive (questionnaire)

* talking to teachers, interviews (informal / formal)

Gathering Data

* collating data from questionnaire / needs analysis

* recording responses from interviews

* gathering data on how faith development is organised within each research team memeber's school?

Analyse / Synthesise / Drawing inferences

* determining format of reporting process

* collate survey findings

* identify key findings

* analyse data

* prepare a draft report

Dissemination

* disseminate information to colleagues

* determine who else receives information / results from findings (eg The Bishop , Director, Principals. Exec members, R.E.Cs, Consultants etc )
