Iseum Newsletter
#4

August 2005

Welcome to the 4th edition of "The Iseum Eye", a randomly regular newsletter of the Iseum of the Cosmic Dance! Since it's been over 12 months since the last newsletter, emphasis appears to be on the "random" more so than the "regular!".

I certainly had good intentions to publish these newsletters at least every 2 months,  but as usual the Universe had other plans for me.

The last 12 months has been a very busy time for me.

The First Six Months...

I went back to working full time, albeit a brief stint, but I felt that it put me out of sync with the space-time continuum, if that makes sense to you. I also kept busy with writing and revising lessons in the correspondence courses. (I'm pleased to announce that the Iseum of the Cosmic Dance now has 10 correspondence students!) I also spent a lot of time focusing on my belly dance technique, and my music playing (Flute and Arabic Drum).

This is all in addition to the usual work associated with running a household and keeping a kid (and a husband) in line, and also some unusual family related stress, emphasis on the "related" bit.

That was only the first 6 months... after which I found myself confronted with Christmas time, and wondering where on earth those 6 months went?!

As a pagan, I kind of dread the whole Christmas time of year. The commercialism thing gives me the absolute heeby-geeby's, not only that, but I strongly detest listening to Christmas Carols blaring full volume through the (crappy) speaker system of every shopping mall I visit. They seem to assume that not only is everyone a Christian, but that everyone actually enjoys listening to the dam things! (Maybe if they had heavy metal versions of them, and played them through some Richter speakers, I'd enjoy them more....??)

Anyways, I survived the annual Christmas onslaught, focusing mainly on enjoying being surrounded by loved ones and sharing food gifts and laughter with one another.

The Six Months After That

Post Christmas/Holiday season, I began job hunting again, but fast became disillusioned with the whole system and the whole process (I generally work in a specialised area in the education system).

I pretty much gave up, and changed my way of thinking, and did some research and more thinking.. and eventually started up my own business, predominantly selling on ebay, and only just recently starting up my own website.

It has been a very busy 6 months, time spent mostly focusing on building up the business & everything associated with that, which is extremely time consuming but also very educational!!

I can't say I'm getting rich (ha ha!) but I am certainly enjoying myself and my goal is long term - which is to be self sufficient enough at the start of 2007, when my daughter starts school, that I won't HAVE to go and work for someone else!

While Ebay is usually the basis of my business, at the moment I am not trading there as I have been suspended for 30 days over policy breaches - an honest mistake on my part. It is extremely frustrating to have to stand up for yourself against a "faceless multi-billion dollar corporation", let me tell you, but I am impressed with the speed at which they have handled my queries etc.

So until mid September, I am  in somewhat of a 'lull'.

However, what this situation has made me realise is just how much of my time I had devoted to this little enterprise, and in so doing, neglecting much of my usual spiritual practices not to mention time I should be spending with my family!

These next few weeks, while my business is "out of action" is certainly an opportunity (if not a blatant message from my Divine Family) to once again sort out just what my priorities really are, and to try to achieve at least some sort of time-management plan so that when I am back in business, I spread my time more evenly between ALL the things I love and need to do!

So, just for a change, this newsletter won't contain any potions spells chants or environmental issues.

Instead, I ask you to spend some time (ha ha) to reflect on how you use your time, and see if you can find better ways of balancing your time between all the things you love to do, and all those things you have to do!

If you wish to contribute an article, poem, spell, story, ritual, etc for future issues; please send me your work, and be sure to include your preferred pen name (for credit).

Namaste!
