As for walking the Path of the Goddess?
Well, that was a slow, steady awakening.
I lived in Townsville for several years before returning to Melbourne. But before leaving, I had begun exploring what exactly "magic" meant these days. I hadn't thought of it since I was a little kid, and to this day I don't even know what prompted me to even think of looking it up. What I discovered was mostly related to Ceremonial Magick and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. It was kind of fascinating, interesting even, but wasn't quite my thing. It seemed a bit too elaborate and involved for my liking. I then decided to look up "witch" and was surprised and excited with what I found, but I didn't go too much into it because my partner at that time, apart from being an abusive dickhead, was also as skeptical as they come. I mean, he snorted his nose in disgust at my tarot cards, so I wasn't willing to explore anything else in front of him!!
Maybe about 6 months after returning to Melbourne, and after ditching the ex, I decided to re-explore the whole witch thing, which led to Wicca, and I finally felt like I had found something I could really relate to. It made sense to me, more so than the Christian religion I'd grown up with. Even as a child, I had great respect for the Natural world and often wondered to myself why we don't worship Nature, why in fact we worship some distant, unreachable, God. So finding witchcraft and Wicca finally made me realise this child hood fantasy!
I was lucky enough to find a practicing group soon after. The opportunity to learn and grow through them and with them arose, and I have not looked back since. We initially were a Wiccan group, but have since evolved beyond that.
When I was Initiated into the Goddess Mysteries, I took on my "rebirth" name of Storm. I added the "Isis" to the name after my Initiation into Priestesshood.
I have spent the past five years working very hard on myself and my spiritual development. I feel like I have come a very long way in such a seemingly short time, and that I have developed into quite a strong person and at the same time, am coming to realise my own truths, ethics and beliefs. I find it exciting to be continually learning, growing and developing.
I chose the Goddess Isis as my Matron Goddess, because it is She that inspired me as a child - my mother was very interested in Egyptian history so it was through her books that I first saw "the Lady with the Wings". I was in love, but didn't really think much about it. Obviously it's only in the past few years that I even discovered who, or what, She really is!!
She has always been with me, only I was not always aware of it - and I am sure it is Her that lent me the strength and power to finally pull myself out of the vicious abusive-relationship cycle I had been previously trapped in (for nearly 27 years!)
