JOSH IN THE BOX
My Josh is in a box
What is this? Just a cruel hoax?
It can't be real, it can't be true
Just the other day he was surfing with you.
Didn't you say just the other day
Josh and I a game of golf did play
You heard him singing and playing his guitar
You said you were talking to him at the golf club bar.
What is happening? He was studying so hard
His exams were coming up, was he caught off guard?
I saw him driving his Subaru ute
He waved and grinned at me, that grin so cute.
This is so unreal, what has happened to him?
He's not in the shed in his homemade gym
"I'm just going for a run, I won't be long."
He was so healthy, so fit, so strong.
His mother can't sleep, so she writes this verse
His dad's so restless, he's dreaming of a hearse
He tosses, he turns, why can't he find peace?
There'll never be peace, God grant us release.
He was a carpenter, but he wanted to be more
He went back to uni, even though a hard chore
We were so proud of all that he'd done
If he hadn't died, the prize would have been won.
We miss him so much life isn't worth living
Our loss takes its toll, we're weighed down with grieving
Have you heard of the walking dead?
This is what we are, I think enough has been said.
