Site History |
|
Since its establishment sometime around 2001 Stealth Sundries (formally titled Stealth's Stuff) has been through many incarnations, changing its content each time. Though from an image heavy and long load time beginning came the site you see now. Below is an account of its alterations and how Stealth Sundries came to be. |

Flash appearances |
|
Originally Stealth's Stuff, inspired by popular websites such as LiquidGeneration, was Flash intensive. Navigation was controlled via a SWF complete with sound effects and icons that would animate on cursor rollover. However despite its user engagement it wasn't easy to update as frequently as one needed it to, not to mention excluding those on slower connection speeds. It was then decided that the cons outweighed the pros and the interface was scrapped. |

Picture this... |

In hopes of keeping the imagery featured within the Flash interface, Stealth's Stuff was outfitted in custom non-animated GIFs. Buttons themed on page contents replaced the navigation and eye-catching title images were made in an attempt to deliver the same 'wow' factor as the Flash interface. But once again the site posed troublesome for users on slow connections as the imagery extended the load times. Something had to be sacrificed. The buttons disappeared but the title images and backgrounds remained. |

Tacky but functional |
|
Stealth's Stuff was in need of a new navigation system. A simple link-based menu did not seem like a fitting replacement for the Flash interface, as it didn't have the same appeal or user engagement. A java-based menu was then established, though the glow-on-rollover seemed tacky. This system was used primarily from this point. |
