Subject: keil d-scope debugger

I'm working on Design by Example experiment Buttons and Lights. I
can run and compile the code just fine. However, when I start the
debugger it does not recognize my device as being attached. I've
made sure the com1 port settings and the debugger speed settings are
both at 19200. Also, my device is recognized by my win98 hardware
manager as being "empty ez-usb development board". Anybody ever run
into this?
Daniel

I don't think there is anyway to download the archives, I feel you will
only be able to view them on line.

We don't generate a lot of messages on this group. :-)

I looked for this to catch up on other lists and did not find anything.

Best I could work out was to view the messages online, but click the "Expand
Messages" link which gives you about a dozen or more at a time and then
click the "Save As" the HTML page to your local disk. Once you step through
and save the range you want, you can then view them off line.

Its a bit tedious, but when I did it (to catch up 1200 posts over about 2
weeks) I don't think any ad pages came up - least not as often as viewing
them one-by-one.

thks Alex for the idea, but is too much work to do.
I found an other simple way - there is a software called 'Teleport'.
I'll use this software to make a browsable copy of the messages on my hdd.
I hope this is ok with the owner of the group.

I found the solution
use the Teleport software to make a browsable copy of the messages on your hdd
then you can read them offline by chosing the Expand option from the pages.
 is working

Hi Folks,

A question mainly for the Ozzie members of the group...

Do any of you know of a source in Australia (Adelaide)
for Allegro chips? I'm looking for smallish quantities of
the 3967 controller. Should I just send to the US for it
instead? Or is there an Australian supplier that will not
require me to sell my firstborn to buy a few. Any advice
based on personal experience greatfully received.

Ob-Simmstick: I'll be mounting this on an aging PIC001
with a 16C84, at least initially ;-)

Cheers, Dieter.

Hi Dieter,

Depending on how many smallish is, I sometimes get samples sent to me, up to six at a time, from there website. But if smallish is 10-50,100-200, ask an Australian supplier, who sells(other suppliers) in smaller quantities.

If you write some code for one of these, I would be interested, I got some samples of the 3977 and 3967, and few months back, which I may want to connect to my DT106, when I have time. I not a programmer so it many take a while.

no, the serial port is for serial communications to the micro, such as
the serial port on your PC.
the parallel port if for programming.

You can load a program in the serial port of the dt106, if you first load a
Bootloader program into your micro through the parallel port, and also load
a Downloader program onto your PC to communicate with the bootloader.

On my PC is a Downloader from www.ehl.cz/pic, and from somewhere in my
searches I found a freeware Bootloader. From memory they didn't quite work
together first time, but now they do, and it's a bit quicker and easier
than the parallel port. If you can't find them, email me direct, off the
list, I can send you the compatible bootloader and downloader.

Rob

Well for the newer AVR Mega devices, it is possible to pre program the
device with some boot loader code which can then in turn be used to
reprogram the AVR Flash via teh serial port.

Have a look at: http://www.avrfreaks.net/Tools/showtools.php?ToolID=328

Not done it myself but others seem to have had success.

Hi Rob,

He was asking for the DT006, not DT106 which is a big difference since
it is an AVR platform, not PIC. Though correct in a way, you can make
a BOOT program in the Mega8 (4433 socket) and thus load programs via
the RS232 port of the DT006.

Thanks Rob,

I have been so unbelievably busy for one reason or another, that I
almost missed it. :-)
Of course here in OZ because of the time difference, we are fast
approaching Christmas again.

I hope everyone has a fantastic year in 2003

Hi Guys, I have a person placing fraudulent orders into my shopping
cart, and we have been madly writing code to stop him.

At the moment I am in a bit of a loop.

could someone please attempt to order something from
http://www.dontronics.com/
and let me know if you can get to my checkout page. That's the page
where you get to enter your name and address.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Henry and thanks very much, that is what we wanted to hear. No,
please don't place the order, it was just a hangup between the
fraudulent info page and the actual order page.

If one or two more people could give it a try, it would be appreciated.
we seem to have some sort of internet cache problem, and need feedback
to save me going mad. :-)

I may alter things after a bit of testing, and ask again.

Was able to get to http://www.dontronics.com/chcheckout.html
with no trouble... I didn't go as far as the credit card form.

If it's cache trouble, there are 3 or 4 ways (2 main ways) you can tell
whatever browser that the pages expire immediately... its been a while so
I'd have to look them up... but I'm sure you can do a search to find them.

Oops... spoke too soon ;)

clicking on any of the buttons at the bottom of the page, sends you back the
fraud page. Not a huge problem, but definitely not working right.

thanks Brill, we found our main problem.
twas in our perl code in the cgibin.

re the problem you mentioned above.
is this the 3 buttons on the bottom of the page.
I know we left some strange happenings there that need a re-visit.

Alan, I changed it over to the new file name as you suggested, and
tested it as OK.

Subject: Help Getting Started - DT001

I am ooking for some help getting started. I have purchased a DT001
board which I have put together. I am trying to get a basic flashing
LED program working. I am using the P16PRO software (Windows version
13.d beta).Configuration file is set as follows:
     Oscillator = HS
     Watchdog Timer = OFF
     Power Up Timer = ON
     Cod Protection = OFF
The chip I am trying to program is a PIC16F84A.

Q1 - Can the configuration fuses be set and changed or are they a one
off thing?
Q2 - What is the rule of thumb for the OSC crystal setting - do you
use HS for 8MHz and higher crystal settings (I have seen various
different values - the Microchip app notes define in terms of
oscillator gain rather than frequencuy of crystal)?
Q3 - If I configure the software for a PIC16F84A I get an error:
     Program: address=0000 buffer=2804 device=3FFF
If I configure the sofware for a PIC16F84 the PIC programs and
verifys okay. Apart from max speed, I didn't think there were any
differences between the 84 and the 84A?
Q4 - If I program the PIC as a 16F84 in the textool socket, the chip
reads back okay. If I then put it in a DT111 board (which is blank
except for a socket and the PIC) in slot 1 it will not program
correctly (same error as above) and when I read it back it comes up
as all locations = 3FFF (even after I have apparently successfully
programmed it in the textool socket).
Q5 - Does any one have the ASM listing for the Wl84 hex code?

Any thoughts would be appreciated - I have scanned the emails from
this group but haven't come up with any answers (although some of the
emails did fix up some of my earlier problems).

Regards,

Grant Tudor

I am trying to write my own software to run the STV5730a.

Right now, I am able to reset the chip correctly. And I am aslo able

Subject: Simple .c file to figure out how to flash LED's

Hello All,

I'm trying to learn C and I'm having a hell of a time. I'm doing this
on my own with NO help. I have programmed a little with Bascom and
seem to have an easier time of it, but I have yet to make an LED do
anything using C. I seem to learn best from an example. If anyone
would be kind enough to provide a templet.c that is compatable with a
DT006 and the serial UART, I think I could learn from it.

I understand the basic concepts... The chip is just too stupid to
understand what I'm saying. :) I can't even get the CVAR wizard to
printf "a simple text".

I'm using:

AT90S2313 @ 10M
Codevision Eval or WinAVR

Thanks for any help,
Steve
