Pooh and Piglet take a walk
bin Hassad, the famous ancient Arabic mathematician was visiting an equally famous man, the prophet, El Cognisi.
"O bin Hassad, famed wise man! Holder of the Logical Eye! I have a problem which I can trust you to help me with", said El Cognisi. "In any way I can, Greatest of all the Prophets! I am at your service", declared bin Hassad
"Well", said the prophet, "A remarkable problem has come up. As you know, I have told of the coming of two special animals, Pooh and Piglet and how they will become famous in a few centuries. On one occasion, at the very same time, they each set out from their respective homes to visit each other. As they both walk, they are deep in thought and completely fail to notice when they draw level with each other on the only road between their houses. They continue to walk at their same respective constant speeds till they reach each other's houses. From the point at which they cross, Piglet takes 8 minutes to get to Pooh's house. Pooh, on the other hand, takes 18 minutes from this crossing point to reach Piglet's house.
You follow me, O bin Hassad?
Of course, what is the problem?
Yes, of course, Fastest Follower of All! The problem I cannot solve is: How long did it take Piglet to reach Pooh's house?
"Why, I am sure that it took this ... Piglet (is this the name?) ... exactly ... " bin Hassad whispered the rest, sensing that El Cognisi would appreciate discretion.
What did bin Hassad suggest?
