February 2001After work on the staging yard was considered to be essentially complete - waiting some final adjustments of those wipers - Anunaka and Kelvin were lifted on to the framing in an "interim" arrangement. This view shows Anunaka sitting where Warunda will ultimately be located. This will permit operating sessions while Warunda is built. You will notice the blank panel to Anunaka's left - this is a bridging section which will allow trains to complete their journey.

Here is Kelvin sitting in its interim location. If
you look at the current permanent track plan you
will see that this appears to be its permanent location.
However there are moves
afoot to correct the geographic anomalies which would result in Kelvin
moving to the centre peninsula. Moving Kelvin will be just about
the last step in the saga of the layout. In this view you can see the two bridging sections - weither side of the station.

The bridging section between Kelvin and Anunaka.
A "flat earth" arrangement, sitting on temporary lengths of timber. It will
have some rudimentary scenery installed to lessen the impact of this
track during the time Anunaka is located on the "Warunda Wall"

This bridging section is much more like a bridge.
It is built on a narrow piece of timber to allow it to drop through the
opening in the "sky". Also, due to a slight miscalculation in the height
of "something" it is on a much steeper grade than planned. So far the
gradient has not posed a problem to the trains in operation.
