YARRA VALLEY WALK
9:00 am Sunday March 21st 2004
Joining the Yarra Valley Walk will help provide...
- $15 is enough to set up a water user group to manage a family-based irrigation scheme in Laos. Irrigation schemes help increase rice production in the area.
- $70 will provide for one Traditional Birth Attendant, the basic health training and birthing equipment needed to supervise safe deliveries in the remote Afar region of Ethiopia.
- $150 can pay for a week’s salary for a District Health Officer in East Timor, to address HIV / AIDS.
- $250 is enough to pay for household kits for three Angolan families who are being resettled after the civil war. Household kits include blankets, towels, soap, buckets, bowls, pots, cups, and knives.
These are just a small representation of the development work in third world countries that will be assisted by the proceeds of Oxfam Community Aid Abroad's annual Walk Against Want on Sunday March 21st 2004.
The Northern Suburbs area Yarra Valley walk will start at 9:00am from Finn's Reserve in Templestowe, Melways ref 33B4 and will finish there also. There is 6Km walk from Finn's reserve to Fitzsimons Lane and back and a 12Km walk to Petty's Orchard and back. Both walkers and cyclists may participate..
