WALK AGAINST WANT 2009

The following walks will be held by groups around Victoria:

 

Walk Against Want - Warrnambool

Oxfam group Warrnambool will be holding their Walk Against Want at 2pm on Sunday 22 March 2009 at Woodford.

Walk Against Want – Bayside

There are three separate walks offered at this year’s Bayside Walk Against Want on 3rd May 2009. Registration will be at the Sandybeach Centre (cnr Sims St and Beach Rd, a short walk from Sandringham railway station) between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Participants can choose a 5km, 9km or 16km walk along the foreshore and take in breathtaking views of the bay. The shorter walks explore the historic Gipsy Village area. The enthusiastic walkers taking on the 16km walk will follow the original tramway track between Sandringham Station and Beaumaris. Walkers usually take a break at some of the many excellent coffee shops in Black Rock. Refreshments will be provided at the completion of the walk. Walk Against Want – Eastern Suburbs

The 2009 Eastern Suburbs Walk Against Want will be held on Sunday May 3, starting and finishing at the St John Ambulance Hall in Elgar Park, Box Hill North (Mel. 47 B4).

Participants can start between 9am and 1pm, and walk or run 6, 12 or 17 km, or cycle 12, 17 or 34km. The route follows the delightful Koonung Trail through restored bush and parklands and is wheelchair friendly. There will be the usual free drinks, fruit and biscuits en route, free sausage sizzle at the end, plus musical entertainment throughout the day.
