Proposals and Grants Coordinator
of Oxfam's Indigenous Australian Program
Jessica will tell us about the Yorgum Aboriginal Corporation and it's self help group of Aboriginal men and women which was formed to avoid continual "patch ups" in domestic disputes.
Yorgum provides counselling and support to Indigenous people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, grief and loss, crisis or trauma resolution and issues relating to Aboriginal identity.
She will also talk about her visits to the Gulf regional health program where Oxfam has been working for 18 months.
Jessica will talk about people she met and tell us their stories assisted by photos she has taken. It will be a story telling night to help us understand how these people are tackling their problems.
Jessica has reassured us that through rain, hail or shine or even illness, she will be present at our meeting !

Please start collecting empty wine boxes to put books in when we start sorting them in August / September. Dan Murphy's has boxes available on Sundays and Mondays.

Workshop for Oxfam Australia's
Strategic Plan for 2007-2011

Oxfam is currently working on the next Strategic Plan for the agency and is now going through a consultation stage. The Board would therefore like to invite Oxfam Group members to participate in a workshop to garner your views on the key issues that need to be addressed in the agency's next strategic plan. The output from these workshops will be made available on-line in early August. This document will be one of several inputs which will help in identifying the key strategic issues to be addressed in the agency's next strategic plan and will assist in finalizing a values statement for Oxfam Australia.
