Ruth & Stephen's Recent
Trip to Southern India


Ruth and Stephen will talk about 2 projects they visited in southern India in January - one working with tribals and another tsunami victims.  Two AVI volunteers, Damian and Sophie Maguire who worked for 2 years on an environmental project in southern India will also speak.

Close The Gap
Oxfam's
Aboriginal Health Program

Terry Robb from Oxfam told the February meeting about the upcoming campaign, called CLOSE THE GAP, focusing on indigenous health and the demand for equality. This campaign has now been launched with details on the Oxfam website.

Walk Against Want.
Sunday 29th April


The details of the Walk are that there will be 3 walks one in Blackburn, one in the bayside area and one being organized by the Essendon & Williamstown groups. It will be held on Saturday the 29th of April.

Trailwalker
23rd--25th March
Volunteers Still Needed.


The office is looking for 700 volunteers to help out at Oxfam Trailwalker Melbourne, to be held from Friday 23 March to Sunday 25 March. You can choose from a wide range of roles, from helping Trailwalkers at various points along the trail to directing and cheering participants across the finishing line.

Country Dance
Saturday 19th May
North Eltham Hall

The date for this year's Country dance has been confirmed as 19 May at the North Eltham hall (same as last time) Put it in your diary, consider who you could invite and think about items for a silent auction.

Book Fair
Saturday 20th October
Eltham Senior Citizen's Hall

The date for this years book fair has been confirmed for 20 October at the Eltham Senior Citizens Centre.  Start collecting books and wine boxes for storage.  Anybody who wants to take books to place under the library *_must_* arrange it with Beth or Stephen as they are the ones with keys.  *Library staff are not to be asked.*
