What
I believe on Animal Rights....
.... the rights of dogs and their human families have for too long been ignored. Minority groups have been busy promoting their cause under various labels and are trying to make out that dogs are bad. Instead they promote the welfare and protection of snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, native weeds, cyclists, extremist environmentalists, dog loathers, or people suffering from phobia. I am not passing judgement on how worthy of protection all those are. I am simply saying enough is enough. It is about time somebody cared about us. You call us man's best friend. So please start treating us like that. Pet dogs should
be permitted to accompany their owners in all public places, including
public transport and parks and gardens. In addition, every town and suburb
needs to provide sufficiently large, safe open spaces such as parks or
parkland where dogs are allowed to run freely off the leash. We need to
interact with our own kind and exercise properly.
It is simply not true that we destroy the environment. If you are interested, I can send you a copy of the environmental case study, "Interactions Among Dogs, People, And The Environment in Boulder, Colorado" by Professor Marc Bekoff and Carron A. Meaney. My email address is on the "home" page. |
