How To Plan Your Wedding

8-12 Months to go

Select the wedding date, keeping the time of year in mind
Discuss the theme of the wedding such as church, private, garden, black tie etc
Begin to compile your guest list
Advise your Best Man and Maid/Matron of honour their roles(refer to our roles and duties page for help)
Calculate a budget and work out who is going to pay for what (avoid arguments !)
Start looking at dress styles & colour schemes
Get some ideas and prices on honeymoon destinations
Book the church & reception venue
Start looking for wedding rings and styles
Select and book your photographer, videographer, entertainment and hire cars

5-8 Months to go

Start looking around for the groom and groomsmens' outfits
Need ideas for your gift registry and gifts for the guests(refer to our gifts page for help)
If applicable, reserve any hire equipment that will be used such as marquee, chair covers etc
Organise other decorative items such as balloons, table decorations (goldfish!) etc
Organise all appropriate legal documents with your church or celebrant

3-5 Months to go

Select and order the wedding cake
Finalise the guest list
Decide and order on gifts for the bridal party, parents and guests(refer to our gifts page for help)
Have final decisions been made on the wedding rings?
Prepare the invitations

1-3 Months to go

Send out the invitations
Finalise the honeymoon arrangements
Apply for or renew passport if necessary
Arrange the Buck's night
Arrange the Bridal Shower & Hens' night
Organise the wedding rehearsal
Arrange accommodation for interstate/overseas guests etc if necessary
Book appointments with hair stylist and makeup artist
Purchase any wedding day accessories such as lingerie, bags, etc.
Finalise arrangements with the photographer and/or videographer, entertainment and hire cars

2-4 Weeks to go

Final fittings for the wedding and bridesmaids' dresses
Make a schedule for the list of events for the wedding day(refer to our order of events page for help)
Any accessories missed?
Pick up and pay for gifts and bonboniere for all the bridal party, parents and guests
Finalise seating arrangements with reception venue or caterer
Pickup and pay for your wedding rings
Finalise arrangements and order of speeches with your M.C.(refer to our speeches page for help)
