Common duties of the Best Man and the Chief Bridesmaid

The Best Man


Arrange bachelor party/buck's night
Help groom with formal wear arrangements
Look after bride's ring until the ceremony
Make sure groom is on time to the ceremony
Make final payments on the day (officiate, transport company, caterer,entertainment etc.)
Be prepared to help with anything and everything
Arrange transport for bride and groom's departure
Return formalwear if necessary
Help groom and pageboy get ready
Pay for own formalwear hire
Keep groom calm and offer moral support

The Chief Bridesmaid


(also known as Maid or Matron of Honour)
Assist bride in choosing dress
Assist bride in choosing bridesmaids' dresses
Make sure dresses arrive on time
Help with organisation if required
Help with invitations
Help with making bomboniere
Host a bridal shower
Help bride get dressed
Hold groom's ring
Hold bride's bouquet during vows
Straighten bride's veil and train when necessary
Be prepared to help with anything and everything
Pay for own bridesmaid dress
Keep Bride calm and offer moral support
