Cromagnon
Man - by JP
| This EP shows Snout exploring
a wide variety of sound gem of power and fuzz, capturing the hip humour
and fell which sets this band apart from Melbourne's often tiring
pop/rock scene. "Patches and Badges" offers a psychedelic loop beat
featuring some interesting instrumentation. Greg's "Soul Food" provides
a somewhat sleazy dance feel with a |
 |
| dubbed rhythm
and backmasked slide guitar. The two acoustic tunes are excellent,
with "The Misery Trade" being my pick of the disc. |
Each of the five songs are
interesting and different, and given the variety of this release alone
it is a worthy addition to the CD collection of any Snout fan. By the
time you've gone from cover to cover, you may find yourself playing it
over again just to remember where you started.
