Snout/The
Living End/Bantha Fodder - The Playroom, Gold Coast -
Sunday 7th June 1998 - by Carlos The Living End, Snout, Bantha Fodder? Or Bantha Fodder, The Living End and Snout. Stop!! I’m getting confused. These three bands Sunday the 7th June at the Playroom on the "Goldie". The question. Who headlined? They tell me Snout was the top billing, but the crowd told a different story. Let me begin by saying the old Playroom was "chokers", wall to wall bodies keen to see and hear some excellent, head choppin tunes. I didn’t see one sad face amongst a sea of swinging bodies. Bantha Fodder started the crowd stretching and their eyes and ears a focusing. These guys were cool, the only live band ever seen with rock-a-billy quiver hair chops and a uniform of team racing shirts, sensational! Their music fast a furious, five lads crankin away with sounds similar to the Living End but with their own unique touch. Double bass me off! Which leads to our review headline, was the Living End headlining? The Playroom said no, but the crowd were there for the swinging 3 piece. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing these guys three times before, and folks these boys didn’t disappoint me. They had the presence of the bright lights, the sounds to rip Pauline pants down into an uncontrollable spasm and to quote from the source itself "Well we don’t need no-one to tell us what to do, well yes were on the road and there’s nothing you can do." The crowd loved what these guys blasted out. Every song seemed to be their favourite as they leapt over every inch of the Gold Coast venue. These lads will be chargin’ for a while yet. 5 out of 5 on my good shit-o-meter. Finally to the headlining band Snout, these guys didn’t disappoint. I like em. Although the crowd seemed to dissipate a little after the Living End finished, the ones who stayed kept chargin’. Snout has been around for a few years now and is still kicking freckle. By the look of the cheesy grins on the crowds’ face, acquired by one mean or another, they didn’t disappoint. We had a merry crew at the "pit" and we all had a scorchin night. Well done to the bands for the tunes and the Playroom for an excellent hassle-free night. |
