Snout - Got
Sold On Heaven (Au-go-go) by Katie Scott
| Are Australia's premier
indie-pop acts prematurely mellowing in their years? Maybe not,
but The Fauves' latest release was a surprisingly contemplative
affair, and Snout have counted it with a similarly pensive (both
muscially and lyrically) effort. Got Sold On Heaven tiptoes where
previously releases have stamped, melding drum, bass, hushed organ
and guitar into a delecate thud that evokes melancholy without drama.
Ross spills his thoughts on the afterlife in a warm languid drawl
that delivers serrenal vocals to the effect of: |

|
| Don't
tell the children where you got the angel cakes / Nor the fairy
dust at dawn on their morning conflakes / That the dreams in their
hearts stars in their eyes / Are crushed from the wings of third
world butterflies. Words can not be linked more beautifully
than that. |
