What's That
Sound? *** - by Tim Ireland
| The Particular brand
of guitar pop belted out by this Melbourne three-piece exudes a joyous
cheekiness that is very easy to take a shine to. Although the riffs
are slightly more sonic than the norm, they're strongly reminiscent
of the American surf-rock era, as are the smooth, melodic vocals of
bass player Ross McLennan. It's no huge stretch to imagine the boys
doing a great cover of "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena". The bouncy
title track, particularly, stands out. |
