Connecting to Optus Cable with Linux
UpDate: October 23rd 2001: Network change = New method
Says it all, connecting to Optus by using the dhcpcd daemon. There is some useful information with trouble shooting tips along with a couple of external links to other methods or related info..
Using a floppy based router - LRP - for Optus
An advanced alternative to the last link. If you just want to get connected then the above link is what your after. But if you have to stay home and mind the dog, or just need a challenge then follow...
EtherBooting the Dachstein LRP
A HowTo on Etherbooting (Network Booting) the Dachstein LRP distribution over your internal network. It's achieved by installing boot code in an eprom on a suitable NIC, this will then load the OS over the network. No drives are needed. Tomsrtbt gets a mention as does Memtest86.
NIC Throughput Tests
The results of some Throughput tests on a selection of NICS I had, or borrowed. The results were interesting to me in that I could finally decide which cards to get rid of, or use in those low end applications.
Floppy Disk Copy Setup
Rumors of the floppy disk drive's death appear to have been much exaggerated. While it still survives this collection of shell scripts can assist with duplicating the diskettes.
Wireless NodeGES
Information about this particular wireless node. See the links below for the bigger picture.
Melbourne Wireless Inc: is a not-for-profit group aiming to establish a fast, free, metropolitan area wireless network based on existing off-the-shelf 802.11 based equipment.
LocFinder: allows members of Melbourne Wireless to register 802.11b nodes that they have running and see who else might be nearby and looking for somebody to connect to.
SecurityDistributed Intrusion Detection System If you're itching to tell someone about your firewall hits then this is the site. It'll relieve the tension of having no one that cares :-) and if you elect to join fightback you can have a warm fuzzy feeling as well

Curiositys
Setisearchers we're still crunching although the interest appears to have seriously declined.
-- and just when you're about to take it off life-support a new member slips in, and with a stack of units too. "It lives Igor, It lives!" ( with slight apologies to Mary Shelley ( Frankenstein ).
Welcome!
