350 Vortec TPI - Preparations Part I
It took me 12 months to gather most of the parts needed for my performance mods to the motor. Chevy L31 Vortec heads are being used, fitted with Comp Cams 986-16 1.43 inch diameter Comp Cams 986 dual valve springs, Comp retainers and locks, Comp teflon seals, pinned rocker studs. The heads are brand new, purchased from Eagle Spares at Revesby. They will be setup and machined by J.B. Performance at Granville.

Comp Cams Xtreme XR264HR-12 (P/N 08-501-8) hydraulic roller camshaft will be installed. Cam specs are 212 / 218 dur @ 0.050, valve lift 0.495 / 0.502, 112 deg LSA. Also to be fitted are Comp Magnum roller rockers, and a Rollmaster timing chain.
Intake will consist of an SDPC Vortec TPI base manifold, Arizona Speed & Marine large tube intake runners, and a fully ported stock plenum.
