for this to really work you need to visualise the guy involved. 
now dave is 6'2", has a beard and hair that reach down to his shoulders all the way round, but starts about 2" above his ears. 
think of cousin IT going bald. 
he is a pretty heavy set guy, who habitualy wears an old bush jacket and black jeans during winter, and cut off bushjacket and black jeans during summer. boots all year. 
does this sound like a person you would give your child to at a supermarket. he's sitting there drinking his coke when this harrased mother comes up to him, says "can you watch her for a minute, i just have to pick up mumble mumble ......." and runs off. 
dave spends the next 15 minutes talking to this 5 year old girl and waiting for the mother to return. 
mum comes back says thanks and walks off. gets about 6 steps, stops dead, spins round and glares at dave, then runs like hell. 
he'd spent the entire time training her to ask "mommy, whats a pedophile?????" 

this is the same person who picked up a child that was pulling shit off the shelves of the local coles by the shirt terminator style and says to mum "if you want it to live, control it"
