2001 CONVENTION
The 5th Narrow Gauge Convention was held in Melbourne over the Easter weekend of 2001. 100+ delegates attended, and were entertained by 22 clinics in the two clinic rooms. The Main Hall had 12 operating layouts, 2 static dioramas and 8 traders, and was spacious enough to easily handle the banquet for 90 on the Saturday night.

The modelling competition was very well supported, with 86 models entered (plus 19 photographs in the photography section) and competition was fierce. The standard of modelling was exceptionally high - although it was very notable that every prize winning entry was in O scale (or larger) and (at a guess) 90% of models entered were in that scale. As far as the Narrow Gauge modelling fraternity is concerned, it would seem as though HO scale is on the way out.

This gallery starts with the winners of the various modelling competitions, plus the special trophies, and then continues through the layouts and some entries which didn't win, but which I thought were certainly worthy of showing here.

While visiting this gallery can not be the equal of actually attending, it will demonstrate the quality of the modelling in Australia. Enjoy the images ...
