Gerry Hopkins is a well known modeller, a regular on the exhibition circuit. The Franklin, Somerset and Kennebec Railroad, Gerry's permanent layout, is his vision of the famous US two-footer, the Sandy River and Rangely Lakes, as it might have been had it been kicked back into life by the advent of WW2.

This is one of the rare breed of HOn30 layouts - room-sized, and designed not just to look beautiful but to operate beautifully as well. Gerry has clearly succeeded on both counts, and operating his layout with a DCC throttle in your hand is a joy.

After viewing the images on this site you might like to read the full story on his own web site: The Two Foot Modeller which covers not just the FS&K but his most recent exhibition layout, the Lost River Canyon and provides a host of other narrow gauge (and not so narrow) information.
