I am part of the Locating Artillery Assoc team, we are having our second reunion at Coffs Hbr (Dave Doyle country(Pres Coffs Ex-Svcs Club)) on 29 Sep-1 Oct 01!! come along. In '99 we ended up with 168 pers, a great time! I last harrassed you over the phone circa '89 when I was TSM 1 Wpn Loc Tp. I'll add a couple of pics over the years to refresh your memory. G'Day Joe, Back again, by the way ol sausage you photo on the main page taken in 1970 - check your spelling, it should be "Bombardier". Further to crank your memory, I rang you up around 1989 when you were a CAPT with the 'Plastics' attached to 1 Fd Regt, and reminded you of the incident on the heli-pad vietnam!!? Hello Mr Joseph R.Kocka, My name is Phong Q Le,Vietnamese.I saw your home page while I was searching on internet.I'm very glad to contact with you who has come my countryside,Baria town as the friend in the war.Like you My father was a soldier too.he joined military from 1971.He was wounded in the battle field in August 6th 1973 and 1974 was demobilized.I was born in Baria after the war ended so I cannot to know how was the figure of the war,in especially about some things that occured in my hometown, Baria.My Mom and My Dad told me very little about that battle.Maybe they don't want tell me about the past.My uncle was also served together with some his friends who is Australian soldier.Both my dad and my uncle was wounded and became the veterans of war. Some the pictures about my hometown,Baria was destroyed after the fall of Saigon 1975.Actually,I want to tell you that I am very want to know many many events that occured in Baria in the old time. At present,My family still lives in Baria,and even though last 26 years passed over but my family still living in the poor.I was happy to take a chance for studying in Okinawa from 1999 under the scholarship of Japan.When I left out of Viet Nam I studied much more than some things I got in my country.At present,I am studying by the money that I save from part time job in restaurant.In Okinawa I live in Freedom so I can study many of topic that I like.As you know the Viet Nam now as a communist country it had not permit me search about history in the past. I wrote to you very long to desride my feeling about the events of the past.Now as for me is how can I do for my country in future. I want to say thanks alot for some things that Australian Veterans has helped for my hometown,my people in Baria as in war and as in peace.I believe that we are still friends each other whenever. Hi Joseph, It was very pleasing to come across your homepage. As a national serviceman,I also served with the Battery, and also in SVN. I was with the unit from 1968 to 1970, you are correct in your analysis of the duties of the unit, if you require any information contact me as I may be able to help, Do you know if the unit has organised any reunions asI am very intrested to contact past members, and in general to find out how things have progressed for the unit.
