Katie Beckett Waiver (USA)

Waiver programs are options that states can participate in if they wish. Most states have some type if Medicaid waiver program - but they are not required to do so. A waiver program allows a state to "waive" certain federal restrictions for Medicaid for a particular population they want to serve.
Some states have several different waivers that are diagnosis- specific - such as Traumatic Brain Injury, Technology Dependent, etc. Most of these programs are now referred to as Home and Community Based Waivers.

The American Pseudo-obstruction and Hirschprung's Disease Society (APHS) - APHS addresses the needs of individuals affected by gastrointestinal motility disorders.

 

 

 

  The National Information Centre for Youth and Children with Disabilities (NICHCY) - US based NICHCY is a national information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals. Their special focus is children and youth (birth to age 22).

 The Apraxia - Kids Website - A comprehensive site for information on developmental apraxia of speech (verbal dyspraxia) and children's speech and language topics, including evaluation, therapy and other childhood communication topics.

 

 MEDEK - MEDEK is a therapeutic intervention for the development of gross motor skills in children with movement disorders. MEDEK was developed in Caracas by physical therapist Ramon Cuevas. It was introduced to North America by physical therapist Ester Fink. MEDEK stands for Metodo Dinamico de Estimulacion Kinesica or Dynamic Method for Kinetic Stimulation.
