How to remove the dos support on Vortex 1, 2 and Advantage based sound cards

An .inf file must be changed before the Windows 9x reference drivers are installed. Make sure you are using the latest version of the Vortex 1, 2 or Advantage reference drivers.

Vortex 1 reference drivers

Open asp4mmed.inf
Find the [AspenOverides.Addreg] section
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableRealModeLegacySBFM,1,1 to remove the Sound Blaster Pro emulation in real mode dos
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableSBFM,1,1 to remove the Sound Blaster Pro emulation in Windows 9x
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableJoystick,1,1 to remove the joystick support for dos box in Windows 9x
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableMPU401,1,1 to remove the MPU-401 port support for dos box in Windows 9x
Install the drivers.

Vortex 2 reference drivers

Open au30mmed.inf
Find the [AspenOverides.Addreg] section
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableRealModeLegacySBFM,1,1 to remove the Sound Blaster Pro emulation in real mode dos
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableSBFM,1,1 to remove the Sound Blaster Pro emulation in Windows 9x
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableJoystick,1,1 to remove the joystick support for dos box in Windows 9x
Remove the ; infront of HKR,Config,DisableMPU401,1,1 to remove the MPU-401 port support for dos box in Windows 9x
Install the drivers.
