13 Tour DVD

First new song C.B. is very powerful. Kiyo is playing the electric guitar ( a Gibson i think) for all the new songs. Sads really benefit from the grunt of an extra guitar and it makes a hella cute fashion accessory too ;) The crowd is huge, tight packed and wildly enthusiastic, bouncing vertically. Next song Stop is also great and the crowd are really loving it :O  N.Doll he sings while smoking a cigarette. I like this one too alot even though his voice cracks rather painfully in the chorus. F'sake I wish he'd cut down on the fags! I love Sakashitas solo in this song, he has such a warm chunky sound. Sitar: this is so good too, but the next one Cold Rain is my favourite. It's a laid back but intense song, and so well writen you'd think it was Kuroyume ;) Release this damn song!! I am very hopeful about the new Sads album with such great new material already.
So anyway then he gets his acoustic and sits down to do Beside You, which is sweet and all...then standing up again and with a rather nice powder blue Strat he sings Rakuen, which is another strong slow Kuroyume-complex song. He sings this song so perfectly it sounds exactly like the recording. Cut to Psycho and the stage is darkened and he is playing with a torch. Psycho is a big favourite of mine and this is a really fun live version. Now he has changed out of his dark suit and tie (see top) and is wearing a white flary suit and what seem to be plastic japanese bathroom slippers.
Fairys Malice: Wheeee! Does that super cute spinning around with the mic stand thing at the beginning of this one. A very tight live of this song too. Wizard: another fag :O..finally he puts his ciggy out on a light stand and chucks it into the crowd. I bet they fought over the butt end :D Rock'n'roll Is Not Easy uh i mean Too Fast To Die..wheee! Bare feet now! Even his feet have stage presence :D This song really gets the crowd hopping. Nightmare: WAH! Sugoi! Great live of my favourite song. IDPOP: well what can you say? It's All Good.
Thank You: There is something almost hardcore ravey about this song. It just whips em up into a frenzy of crowd mayhem. Kiyo is laughing at their antics and lording it over them in spectacular fashion. Feet are still bare, coat is gone to reveal a purple paisley shirt. Off stage again and when they return Kiyo has changed into a black velvet jacket and black lace up leather jeans. Song is great too of course, for those of you not concerned about outfits :D Sucked in, this is MY page! Of course talent is all i really care about. Sayonara mascara is fine by me.
Cut to Party. Jacket is gone and he has a hat and tie on over a singlety thing. I would have vetoed all three personally but since when does anyone ask me. Still i LOVE this song and they do it so tight here. Wheee!
Hmm cut again to later in the gig. The shirt is different now. A very energetic version of Liberation, whilst smoking yet another ciggy. It took me a while to realise what it was they are playing so fast. Oh Yeah! Straight into Like@Angel and the crowd goes completely bananas. The whole place is just pulsing with energy. He sings it so damn well too, though it's true you miss Hitokis BVs. Kiyo knows he is good and he gives them this funny little smile.
And how to follow this tour de force? A totally drop dead rendition of Happy. Are you happy, Tokyo? They look damn happy i must say. Which is pretty much it really except for a special bonus song, which i'm not going to tell you about, having blabbed on enough for now.

131 DAYS
UPBH-1080/1

This 2 dvd set is a tour document not a concert dvd like Babylon. It is collection of footage from the Sads 2002 tour and it has a menu called Our Schedule, which is a complete list of all the gigs they played. When you select a gig you get a page with the setlist on it and one or sometimes two of the songs are linked to short clips from that gig. Short can be as little as 15 seconds, although mostly between 30 and 60 seconds. This is fun in a geeky kind of way, I guess especially if you happen to have been at one of the gigs, but I couldn't help being a little dissapointed at the lack of full songs. I could only find five or six at most played from start to finish on the whole 2 cds, and some of these had talking in the middle.
If only it could have been like Live or Die, with behind the scenes stuff AND a full menu of songs. Of course, with subtitles, you probably would have been so interested in what they were saying you wouldn't mind that the song ends in the middle so they can talk. The images alone were fascinating. Kiyo smoking a cigarette in the back seat of a car driving to a gig, getting yet more tatoos, cruising the streets in his sads van, getting mobbed by fans and mugging for the camera. I must say he is looking good too...and cooler than ever. It was a revelation to see how wild and enthusiastic the audiences were. Sometimes it is just like a whirlpool of bodies.
Comes with a sads keychain and a bandana that says "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere".

This DVD is a combination of footage from the Sads UK Tour which followed the release of their first album Sad Blood Rock'n'Roll, with four live performances at the Scala in London and some promotional videos.
The sound quality (or lack of) ruins the lives in the UK. Kiyos vocals just get lost everytime. The scenes of them wandering around bleak old blighty are amusing though and they do get a good response from the crowd. Blood is definatley a British style punk album as opposed to say Rose God Gave Me, which is more American in style.

Waah! This concert is quite an extravaganza. It's filmed in Osaka Castle Hall and the acoustics and back drops are fantastic. Kiyoharu starts the show singing Prayer "tied" to a large cross. Then during Darkness is My Spiral Mind, he is strapped in a chair by a gang of devil worshipping muscle men, pyrotechnically electrocuted and reborn as the Cowboy God. His grand entrance is quite spectacular. The Wizard of Oz tricks are very entertaining, but when it comes down to it Kiyo doesn't really need all those props and extras (except perhaps so he can go and have a breather without that gigantic audience getting bored).

I like the raw last half the best, post resurrection.
"Welcome to the Darkside", the Cowboy God says, and suddenly the the lush colours and extras disappear and the stage goes all stark black and white and strobe lit, and the band just goes off, in the way only Sads can. Anger is an energy, but so is lust and passion. Lust for Life in the words of the immortal Iggy. For You, Liar, Crisis, and Stuck Life were the most memorable songs. Crackers Baby too, of course, and Strawberry, a song I love more everytime I hear it. I felt a bit sorry for all those poor butterflies in Sad Pain though until a friend of mine pointed out they looked like they were made of paper..........XD
Welcome to my Booty Wonderland lol!
