This is the first album Kuroyume made
after the departure of guitarist Shin. Feminism is fairly pop oriented
with a delightful gentle ambience but it is also quite dark and not
without an edge. I loved this album so much more than I ever expected
to and I can't help thinking that Gackt based his whole solo career
on Kiyos Feminism look and sound, so there's another jrocker to add
to the long list of those who owe him. |
| 1.心臓 Shinzou (Heart) Instrumental, short. Heartbeat, tap dripping with tinkly stuff and boomy bass. |
| 2. 解凍実験 Kaitoujikken Words: Kiyoharu, Music: Hitoki (Thawing Experiment? XD) Great start..then it just keeps getting awesomely better. Fairly hard edged for a basically laid back song. "Ice melts into blood tears in this world." |
| 3.Feminism Words: Kiyoharu, Music: Hitoki This song is such a natural progression from the last one. It is alot cleaner, but still vigorous. Brilliant too. Romaji and English Translation |
| 4. 眠れない日に見る時計 Nemurenaihinimirutokei Words: Kiyoharu, Music: Hitoki (The clock which is seen in the day when you cannot sleep) Damn! So is this one! No wonder this album was such a hit. This song is very cool and smooth but still a little ominous. 12 String by Hitoki and a really sweet bass solo too. |

| 7. 白と黒 Shiro to Kuro Words &Music: Kiyoharu (White and Black) Hummm, I guess this is the slow lovey shuffling number, but his laughter XD! Verrry, verry nice. Now you can see why I was scared of reviewing this album. Too many damn superlatives to find! |
| 8. 優しい悲劇 Yasashii Higeki [album mix] Words &Music: Kiyoharu (Kind Tragedy) *sigh* yes this is wonderful too. You have to give these songs a little time to sink their claws into you, but once they do.. " sweet irony".. |
| 9. 情熱の影 -Silhouette- Jyounetsunokage~Silhouette~ Words: Kiyoharu, Music: Kiyoharu/Hitoki (Shadow of Passion) Sparse at first but highly effective. I am so jealous of Kiyos' phrasing abilities...among other things. I have nothing but admiration for the whole goddamn album :-) |

| 13.Happy Birthday Words &Music: Kiyoharu Back to a more pop sensibility. Pop is the wrong word for it though. It's more like slow, torchy rock or soul. |
| 14. 至上のゆりかご Shijyounoyurikago Words &Music: Kiyoharu (Cradle of Supremacy) *major sigh* Kiyo is singing a little deeper than usual here to great effect. He has amazing resonance at this range and a canny way with effects, both physical and technological. More jealousy.... |
