1. GROOVER

Begins boldly with lots of swing. Not much to say about this song so I'll type out lyrics instead:
"Groover why do you laugh at me, I wake, wake my lust up
Groover why do you laugh at me I play, yeah"
Tbh I'm not sure I like this chorus at all. There's something a little too formulaic about it. I don't actually dislike the song itself but I don't find it all that interesting either. Seems to be a reworking of old territory. Maybe it's one of the reasons I judged the whole album harshly at first.

2. 花柄のタンバリン

This is a very languid, rolling song, with lots of sighs and squeals. I love the way it breaks out at the 3 minute mark, cuts loose so to speak. It's a much more adventurous effort, but I'm still getting the marking time feeling. The thing about Kiyos' supernatural vocal skills is that he can make just about any song sound good. It's alot more interesting than Groover though, and better than the next song too.

3. HAUNTED BOOGIE

Dark and funky as the title suggests. This is an album that builds, getting more and more interesting and satisfying as it goes on. These early songs are really just a well crafted preamble. They whet the appetite for the main course. While I do enjoy them I tend to be a bit impatient...
I think the problem here is he is working very much within a genre that I have to admit I find a little boring. Of course I still can't help admiring the superb attention to detail and sound quality. Kiyoharus' average is other peoples exceptional.

4. wednesday

On to the single. This is a very pretty song indeed with some incredible vocal gymnastics (we can always count on him for those but in this song he really does show us a whole new style).
But again I have to confess to finding this song a little insubstantial at times. It seems he is still playing with us, making us wait for the main event. He always was a terrible tease. Still it really is quite gorgeous and unique and probably the first really obvious hint of T-Rexishness appearing too. A kind of slow sex on a (wednesday) afternoon song.

5. blister

Now we are starting to get a little more serious :)
I love the vibrato he uses here and it's great to hear just how individual and unique he still is after all this time. Really no-one else has ever sounded like this. And never will again. I love that specialness and the fact that he has not toned himself down at all as time has gone on. The turn this song takes at 2.23 with all the spooky laughter is just exhilarating! Kannou Boogie has finally taken off and it was well worth the wait.

6. my love

This riff is very T-Rex in feel. The song itself is pure Kiyomon though and totally brilliant too. Marc Bolan would have wet his pants if he'd heard it. The pitch of his voice is just so incredible! :O
"Don't tell me about it, my love, my love".
Kiyoharu takes all his influences and blends them into the pot adding liberal servings of his own personal spice blend. It's very post modern but the result is something totally new and wonderful

7. BROWNIE GIRL

Love the opening riff. It's so very uplifting. There is something very vibrant and transcendant about this song. Seems to have been written with a happy heart, full of energy and life.
This is a great album for getting things done too. It makes you feel so bouncy and alive.

8. RUBY

Sweet, upbeat and very erotic. Loobie! XDD
Sorry Kiyomon, I think you are totally wonderful but I can't help giggling at your accent. It's so cute and sexy. Don't ever change.

9. FLY WAY

FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!
This is my kind of song. Make more like this puh-leeze :)
It's a freedom song, I can feel it. I love its triumphant, indomitable mood.

10. mescaline

Well I have to say this is a very psychedelic album. All his work is of course but this seems to be particularly so. That said I wouldn't have picked this as one of the trippier songs. His awareness is clearly very tuned in generally. That's all I'm going to say about that ;p
Not one of my big favourites though as the backing vocals annoy me a little.

11. lyrical

Immediately more sympathetic. Well crafted and satisfyingly complex. A little darker and more thoughtful than most of the album. It's an incredibly mixed bag in fact. This is one of the best songs I think. Certainly one of the most startlingly original.

12. picture of future~黒アゲハの羽模様~

Wah! Sugoi! Love this song to bits. This is like Fly Way, all wild and free and exciting. Very suitable climax for a very sexy album. This is what we have been waiting for, for so long. It has that special ambience, that special genius....agh! Words fail me.

13. マークはバタフライ

Give us another one! Better still! Oh thankies ~ This man knows how to treat a lady XDD
This song is so extatic it makes me weep with happiness.
"My dearest sweet little girl, you try it, you try it."

Wake My Lust Up

Kannou Boogie ~ Senses Boogie
or Organic Functions Boogie as one online translator so charmingly put it.
Coupled with the slang meaning of boogie ~ having sex, it's fairly safe to say that this album is about SEX.
Don't quote me on that though ;p

When it first arrived I was a bit unimpressed. It seemed like a step backwards to a more Sadsian Kiyo. I had been hoping he'd open up even more after Mellow, and instead we get this rather brittle, glittering effort. I soon changed my mind though, after I listened to it several times and realised it was jam packed with gorgeous songs. There's still a few songs I like a bit less but I never skip them when I play it now, which says to me that the album works as a whole.

The packaging is very pretty although the fish faced female was a little surplus to requirements and I could have done with fewer dead animals. The setting of the booklet pictures and the colour palette are very tastefully done but Kiyo booklets should really be all Kiyo ;p
I do really like the image of him sitting on the tiger. It has so much symbolic resonance and refers of course to the cover of Born to Boogie by T-Rex. At a guess the final song might also be a reference to Marc Bolan. Glam is certainly the flavour of this album.
