| This is an album I never get tired of listening to.
Some of the tracks that didn't impress me at first (like Pornostar) I've since come to like alot more. |
1. *Hello Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads Great way to start an amazing album. One of my all time favourite Sads songs. Hello, indeed. If you want to convert someone to Kiyoharu try this one. Bittersweet, sad and joyful at the same time. A wild pounding breakdown and an ecstatic/tragic chorus.
2. *Hate Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads Darker, more prickly at first, but soon rolling on into fine thrashing buildup. Wah!
3. *See A Thin Pink Cellophane Getting even more ominous here, with a great rumbling heavy guitar sound. Great PV for this one..should be more like this. A collage of live appearances..just one amazing outfit after the next. There is no doubt Sads are a live band first and foremost.
4. *Third Eyes Trial |
5. *Nancy Words: Kiyoharu Music & Arrangement: Sads Speeding up again with an amazing feeling of momentum. That wicked bassline really carrys you along. Great driving song! A bit of psychobilly thrown in for good measure. Eventually it breaks out into a very satisfying massiveness, full of demonic voices. Ends a bit too soon maybe, but that is a good sign. The best songs always leave you wanting more.
6. Pornostar Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads Lick me, lick me...the way he sings this is definitely the highlight of this rather four on the floor effort. Rendered compelling by Kiyoharus delivery, as usual. I quite like the video too apart from those scary white girls, lol. And the sequin suit? Yessss...
7. *Metal Fur Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads How it sounds, furry metal. A great song, very urgent and exciting. Very massive. Stunning vocals, but by now you should take that as a given. A highly satisfying balance between intricasy and ambience, and pure hard slog.
8. *Cry Out Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads Another big favourite. Fairly simple but very emotional. "Don't let me die out!" Not much chance of that if he keeps writing songs like these. And singing, wow, the pitchshifts towards the end are awe-inspiring!
9. *The Life Beyond Desperation Words &Music: Kiyoharu Arrangement: Sads Never sorry to hear this one start either. You always know you are in for a wild ride.
10. Spider Words: Kiyoharu Music & Arrangement: Sads Ignore the intro, this one is pretty good once it gets going. Not as unique as some of the other songs, but enjoyable and diabolically catchy.
11 .ロザリオと薔薇 *Rosario To Bara Words: Kiyoharu Music & Arrangement: Sads A little slower and moodier than the rest. I like this one alot. It is a sinking song, going ever downwards and it has quite a strange almost narcotic effect.
12. **Darkness is My Spiral Mind Words: Kiyoharu Music & Arrangement: Sads The obvious highlight of the album. Very psychedelic with a truly stunning spoken voice over and a subterranean dinosaur like guitar sound. This song has everything going for it. I can hear Velvet Underground in the guitar parts, but he's taken it places they never dreamed existed. I'm impressed. "Fly, fly, my butterfly."
13*Because Words: Kiyoharu Music & Arrangement: Sads Shuffling, slipping and sliding riff. Very mobile and bouncy and totally invigorating. "Because I was reborn. Because I trust my rose, rose is my old poison."
