Origin of the term "studmuffin" - a study of the English language Friday, 08-Oct-1999 21:35:41 171.214.187.135 writes: ok, so today i was discussing myosin isoform transformations in skeletal muscle with my biology advisor, and somehow or other the word "STUDMUFFIN" came up -- strangely enough, it was my teacher who said it, not me! so, i caught on to it, and we started discussing what a strange word it is... fun as it is to say... He told me that back in the day, men who were really hot and tough were called "studs" and women who were really tough needed a name too... since "studette" or "studina" sounds really stupid, they came up with the name "studmuffin" to refer to women who were really hot and tough! So he really IS a woman!!! dana ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Message thread: dana: Origin of the term "studmuffin" - a study of the English language (08-Oct-1999 21:35:41) Emile: I *knew* it!
