Whose Board is it Anyway - Forum Archives ========================================= This archive contains some interesting and unusual posts made on the popular Whose Line discussion board "Alison's Quintessential WLiiA? Forum of Fans", and on it's successor "Whose Board is it Anyway?". Forumarc.zip contains my old Xoom site (deleted when they became nbci). It has posts archived from Oct 1998 through to June 1999. Extract everything and open index.html, or forumarc.html for the archives. The later posts were intended to go in there eventually, but as of 2004 it still hasn't happened, so they're available as text files under each month. Posts have been kept for various reasons, primarily because they might still be interesting to someone. This includes newspaper articles, appearance transcripts, posts by the show's cast, taping reports, big discussions and generally fun stuff. For the interested, a little bit of board history:- (Note: This is my recollection, with help from the Oct 98 post "FAQ: The Whosers") Around 1996 things were fairly quiet. There were a few Whose Line sites around including Susan's site, Steve Marotta's pictures and sounds, and Troy's page which was under renovation. Teresa also had a Whose Line forum, though there were some problems with posting new messages. In February 1997 I discovered Whose Line, and with access to the student web server at uni, created "Mark Longmuir's Guide to WLiiA?" which contributed to a gathering of online fandom. Alison created the "Quintessential WLiiA? Forum of Fans" on InsideTheWeb later that year, which really brought the fan community together. Fans started to gather at other locations as well, including IRC chat on the #wliia channel which migrated through many servers and hosts including EFnet, DALnet, TalkCity, IRCnet, Chatnet and aXpi. In May 1998 some malicious code was posted which prevented new posts on the board. As Alison was not around to remove it, new administrators created "Whose Board is it Anyway?", another InsideTheWeb messageboard, to continue discussions. Postings and guestbook entries from show cast brought some excitement and more insight into the making of the show. Some fans organised to meet up and attended a live show of Colin, and then a few months later the tapings for Series 10 using the "Whosers" name. Discussion continued on WBiiA?, although it was sometimes moved temporarily to different locations due to server troubles. When whosers.com was created, the address http://wbiia.whosers.com was assigned to point to the board regardless of actual location. http://events.whosers.com was also assigned and pointed to another ITW messageboard, used to organise and discuss events including convention arrangements and get-togethers. The redirects became particularly useful when ITW announced they were to close down their messageboard services, and WBiiA? changed address several times as new hosts were tried. It eventually settled at arborwood.
