Erika’s Almond Slices

Ingredients 

Add all ingredients into a food processor and mix together. Then work the dough on a bench to a ball type mass, put the dough into a refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes. 

In the meantime mix the filling.

Mix the ingredients (except for the chopped almonds) to a smooth paste.

Retrieve the dough from the refrigerator, use 1/2 of the dough and * roll it into a long flat sheet (fairly thin), now spread 1/2 of the marzipan filling onto the middle part of the dough as well sprinkle 1/2 of the chopped almonds over the filling. Now fold the dough lengthwise twice left over right.

Bake in oven for about 10 minutes @ 175 Celsius. When done  let cool a little, then slice into as wide a strips as desired.

* I found it a lot easier to use Glad Bake paper underneath and on top of the dough when rolling it out. It is also helpful when folding the dough and sliding it onto the tray.
