My First Table’s Construction: My first idea for a layout table was 0.92 m wide by 1.83 m long and made of 16 mm MDF sheet. This baseboard sat on a frame made of 35 mm x 70 mm pine wall stud timber. I attached foldup legs to the baseboard so it could all be collapsed and easily transported and shifted around. After my attack of “It’s not big enough”, I sidelined this table for another use as an area for painting, building etc. It also comes in handy for parties. After building the next layout table, I had my dad make up some heavy duty hinges that could have the hinge pin easily removed when required. These hinges were attached to both the table’s long side and the wall. When the table is then pushed against the wall, I just insert the hinge pins and the table can be folded up against the wall and held in place with a small stainless steel latch. The legs then can be folded into the table and it is then out of the way. |

in place and actually clean for a change.
As
the table is folded up against the wall, this latch holds it in place. Simple little wing nut is all that is
required.

You can see the stainless steel pin, which is not a tight fit.
