2-10-0 Class 50 Tender Loco of the DB

The number of various types of class 50 are almost uncountable.  This prototype bore the number 050 0587, had footplate with skirting, Heusinger valve gear, Witte style smoke deflectors, cab in the tender and disc bogie wheels.  Typical of this era was the sometimes fitted, aluminium coloured lettering along with the DB logo.

This locomotive is from the Epoch III or 1950’s, 1960’s up to 1970

Alco RS-1

The Jersey Central RS-1 roadswitcher, with road number JC 1201, can be seen rounding the corner at Devil’s Peak hauling a load of general freight.

In March of 1941, the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) introduced a new 6 cylinder 1000 horsepower RS1 -- deemed by many to be "the first true roadswitcher". The locomotive was built at the urgings of the Rock Island RR.  Initial units carried CRI&P numbers 748 and 749. During a production run that lasted 19 years, 417 of the B-B trucked locomotives were constructed. Grand Trunk Western 1950 and 1951 were the last RS-1s to leave the Schnectady, NY plant.
