Olympic
Village:
The Olympic Village is immediately adjacent to Sydney Olympic Park where competition was in 17 sports at 13 venues. The Village was the first in Olympic history able to accommodate every athlete competing in the Games in the one location. Approximately 15,000 athletes and team officials lived in the Village. Residents share houses with people from their own country, and all the houses allocated to each country are in a block. The location of each allocation within the Village depends on the size of the delegation. |

Accommodation for residents of the Olympic Village was in permanent and modular houses and apartments. Most rooms were twin-share although some residents had their own rooms. |

Dimensions
of a room
All rooms had beds (2), a cupboard, a bedside table, lamp, heater, towel and clothes racks. The minimum size of a twin-share bedroom was 12-square-metres, some being as large as 18-square-metres. The heights of the ceilings varied (depending on the house type), but were similar to a standard house. The blankets in itself were a collector's item and if you managed to get one, you are very lucky !! |

This
is the back of the Swiss office. To the right (not seen here) was the Canadian
office and to the left Malaysia. It was VERY important for all the HQs
to be clearly identifiable, the more flags, the better!!
In front we had Adam, the Coffee Man. His coffees, capuccinos, caffe lattes and hot chocolates were to die for! Thanks Adam ! |
