Another huge accomplishment was concreting under the house not only was it a problem
to work around the stumps, but I was determined to create headroom. If your over
185cm's DUCK!! Huckob my cousin is a master / craftsman of formwork and levels, we
could not have done it without him. I mixed all the concrete by hand ( With a mixer )
and he did all the finishing and laying. No head bumping or swearing!!
We have a lovely outlook with our own little street, across from us is a bushy
area so we have some privacy. Our home is surrounded by parks and wildlife, Wild
Turkeys live in the nearby parks. it's a place for bringing up children!
The previous owner was a lady who spent most of her 40 years in the house
planting and caring for the garden. When we moved in we didn't even know a
path existed becuase it was so overgrown. We've had to remove and replant a
lot of her work but we've managed to retain most of the feel she put into the garden.
I've been working on our driveway and put on two new front decks, the old was was
an aluminium one and it didn't suit the house at all. I moved the steps around to
allow for more driveway access. The driveways and paths act as above ground drains.
Being so low we've had a lot of drainage problems and there wasn't enough fall to put
a sub-terrainian drainage system. Fortunately the above ground drains work!!
