About The Site

Welcome to Dynamic Mapping.

My name is Simon and I live in Melbourne Australia I am 22 years old and this site is devoted to the Unreal engine based games and maps. So that does not just mean I will be making maps for unreal or unreal tournament. It means I will be making maps for any game that uses the Unreal engine. This site will show case all the maps I make with what ever game I am using at the time.

I am currently unemployed seeing I finished my full time computer science course in 2000 so I am also now currently looking for work. I am also a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)

So what is mapping you might ask?

When you load up your favorite first person shooter and enter that world each level you play is a map. Someone had to sit down at a computer and use a "level" editor to make that world. All the buildings, streets, battlegrounds, distance places or what ever the case might be.
Most games these days come with an editor so us (people who buy the game) can make our own worlds, maps, levels and share them with everyone on the Internet.

I started mapping a few months ago when I got a computer powerful enough to run Unreal Tournament and UnrealED. I loaded UnrealED a few times and never could work out how the damn thing worked. Anyway a few things in life came up and I put it to the side for a while. Then Epic released UnrealED 2 in one of the patches to Unreal Tournament. I found a good tutorial on how to use UnrealED 2 it was just how to make a really simple room and then connect it to other room. What started as that simple room eventually tuned into DM-squared. So that is how I started with mapping.

Unreal Tournament is a multiplayer game only I would rather make single player maps. The downside with learning UnrealED 2 over UnrealED 1 first is most old games using the Unreal Engine still use UnrealED 1 as it's editor and well I don't know much about it. Also When Duke Nukem Forever comes out (if it ever comes out) it will be using UnrealED 2 as it's base editor so look forward for some cool single player games using that game.

I would like this site to turn into an all-purpose site one day with tutorials on how to start making maps for your self. News on what is going on with the unreal engine and games in general.

I hope You come back to the site regularly to see all the new updates to the pages and my maps.
