What sort of swim wear is allowed in competition?

 

BOYS

Boys swimming in any competition, that is, a race for a specific age group must wear one costume that covers, at most, the body surface from hips to knees.

GIRLS

Girls swimming in any competition, that is, a race for a specific age group must wear one costume that is of "open back" and "open shoulder" design that may extend down to the knee. One or two-piece costumes are permitted.

BOYS and GIRLS

Generally the costume:

·         Must be in good moral taste

·         Suitable for the individual sports discipline

·         Must not be transparent or go transparent when wet

·         Must not have a zipper or any other type of fastening system

·         Must be made of textile material (and not be made of any non-textile material such as polyurethane or neoprene).

 

Please watch lighter colours as these do have a tendency to go transparent especially as they age.

 

The Referee has the authority to exclude any competitor whose costume does not comply with the rules.

NOTE: Any FINA Approved costume (look for the label), is suitable for any competition.
