Instrument tuition in Jazz, Latin, Rock and Classical music, is available

Lessons are usually 30 mins duration, once a week. We don’t have a lot of

What is your teaching philosophy?
My name is Peter Miles Kartu,
you can follow that link to find out more about me, but in short, I have been
traveling the world playing, teaching and creating music on many instruments, for
more than 30 years. I firmly believe in teaching you only what you REALLY need
to know to do your job on the band stand. It is very easy to get lost in
learning an instrument, there are thousands of things you could be practicing,
and I have tried most if not all. My teaching is a distillation of all that
experience. I’m not interested just in progress; my goal is THE MOST
PROGRESS in the shortest amount of time! Life is short and music is virtually a
limitless field of study!
People often ask me how I can successfully play so many instruments. I
reply that learning instruments is a lot like learning languages. You learned your
first language by trial, error and schooling. It probably took you 10 years of your
young life to do it. In high school, in just 4 years, you probably learned to
speak French or German. When you got out of school maybe you really wanted to
learn Spanish and that only took you maybe, 2 years. The more you learn, the
quicker it gets, because once you’ve learned one language you know what to look for. You know for
example, that a new word must turn into related verbs and nouns. You know there
must be tenses, grammar and so on. I met a university lecturer once who spoke 7
languages fluently, 5 really well and reckons they could master any new one in
just 3 months if they wanted to.
Specifically my teaching blends the fundamentals and practicality with
creativity and FUN. We will focus on MUSICAL skills such as:
How to get a great sound:
How to shape your notes and have a super strong sense of rhythm and melody.
How to obtain fluent music reading skills FAST.
How to INTERPRET AND IMPROVISE music in styles
such as Jazz, Latin, Classical, Funk and Rock.
In short, my goal is that you become a performer who can deliver the goods,
not in the bedroom, but on the bandstand!
How much is tuition?
All private tuition is charged at $30 per half hour, payable by the term.
I teach in blocks of 10 weeks, 4 blocks a year, mirroring the NSW school
timetable.
No matter what your musical goals
are, you will see solid undeniable progress towards your goals, in just 10 weeks.
