Retreats and Courses

Several times a year, Zen Master Sen Shin leads meditation retreats.  Newcomers to our tradition or beginning students must first attend our four-week lecture and practice series and/or attend practice regularly at one of our groups before applying to attend a retreat.  All newcomers and seasoned practitioners must attend a one-day retreat before applying to attend a longer retreat.  All people interested in attending a retreat must apply in writing.  Please download an application form and fill it in with the retreat dates that you wish to attend and e-mail it to: behappy1010@yahoo.com

Ji Jang Bosal Ceremony

Sunday, 17 August  9am to 12pm

This is a sutra reading ceremony for all of those who have died. It would be appropriate to bring personal mementos (e.g. pictures) of the deceased to place on the altar during the ceremony. Please bring a plate to share and stay for lunch following the ceremony.

Sunday, 24 Aug Sun 9am to 4pm. (Fees: Members $30; Non-Members $40).

One Day Retreat led by Zen Master Sen Shin:

Sunday, 28 Sept 9am to 4pm. (Fees: Members $30; Non-Members $40).

One Day Retreat led by Zen Master Sen Shin:

Sunday, 26 Oct 9am to 4pm. (Fees: Members $30; Non-Members $40).

One Day Retreat led by Zen Master Sen Shin:

Sunday, 23 Nov 9am to 4pm. (Fees: Members $30; Non-Members $40).

A lectures and practice series on Zen Buddhism for 4 weeks:

Dates: Monday night: 6 Oct, 13 Oct, 20 Oct and 27 Oct. 7pm to 8.30pm. (Fees: $10 per each series)

Each night will include a short lecture followed by a practice session.

General Retreat and Course Information

Retreats and courses are led by Zen Master Sen Shin or, when she is overseas, by Dharma Teacher Sharon Bailey.  Applications to attend all retreats must be received at least one week prior to the start of the retreat.  An information package for residential retreats will be provided upon notification of retreat acceptance.  Registration for courses and Dharma talks one week in advance would be greatly appreciated.
