St Paul 22/07/08

What a weekend! And to have Neil seemingly at his prime, singing great and moving like a man half his age, he was a site to behold!

The concerts could not have been better, and to see SO MANY people who I have met over the last 5 years in various cities and at the ND BD party was wonderful....it was like a homecoming.

For me, it was extra special.....not only the concerts, not only great times with great friends, but tow things happened that I would have never expected.....

The first was being at lobby call and having Neil approach me, and actually hold the pendant of the necklace I was wearing! As Jean said in an earlier post, he said he liked the necklace. Hey Eydie! I had enogh spit to eek out "I just bought it yesterday!" (Of course I just bought it...it was a Neil Diamond Guitar pick necklace! On one side it says Neil Diamond World Tour 2008, and on the other side is his signature). Flame was standing next to me, and said "I have one too!", to which Neil responded, as he reached under the collar of his shirt and puilled his out from under his shirt, "But I have the original!"

Then, already riding high from the "up close" experience, Lisa Lisa, Deb IAIS, and I went to the arena real early to try and sell our extra tickets. Just as they both started to walk away to talk to some potential buyers, the FOX NEWS affiliate came up to us and asked if they could interview us for the 10pm news. Sure, what the heck! Well, the other girls walked away, and I ended up talking to the reporter....who I was, where I was from, why was I here, Why travel to see Neil? Will Neil do any patriotic songs? Then they asked, seeing as how St. Paul is hosting the Republican Convention, what were my thoughts about the convention? I said, "I'd rather be seeing Neil!" And Added "If Neil was running for President, I know who I'd be voting for!" At that point, the other ladies returned, and the reporter asked us to sing one song in particular because of the upcoming convention (September Morn), and then one other one, and since the arena PA system was playing Sweet Caroline in a loop, we sang a chorus of that one too!.

What a night! I was riding so high with the day's events, and getting to see yet another flawless concert, I bought a brat for dinner in the arena, gave the gal a $50 (money I'd just gotten for my extra ticket), and walked away before I got my change! Earth to Cathy! Yep, head in the clouds!

It's gonna be a great week as I count down the days til I rejoin the tour on Sunday in Chicago!
