Hello and welcome!,

You have found your way to Robyn's humble little web page. Follow the links below to find out more about me.

I was born in the land of the bird of Paradise, Papua New guinea. Of this beautiful place I remember very little, since I was only 4 years old when my family returned to Australia.

I spent a large slice of my childhood in Melbourne. But since 1974 I have lived in Brisbane, Home to some of the best sporting teams in the world, - of course I'm totally and unashamedly biased! current national champions in cricket, The Queensland Bulls; Brisbane's representatives in the National Soccer League, the Brisbane Strikers; The brilliant and bustling Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Bullets, And, last but by no means least, back to back champions in the Australian rules footy for 2001-2002, the wonderful Brisbane Lions.

Well now. For a little about me...

My school days began in the late 1960s at the Royal victorian Institute for the blind and continued at Camberwell Anglican girls Grammar School.

From 1975 to 1977 I completed the junior secondary years at Cavendish Road High School and in 1978-1979 the Senior Certificate (Years 11 and 12) at Kelvin Grove High School.

In 1980 I embarked upon my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of queensland. During this time I resided on the University campus at Grace College, where I had bundles of fun, and made some very good friends.

In 1985-1986 I travelled to Europe and worked as a language assistant in the northern French city of Lille.

Since 1989 I have been a teacher in the french department of The Brisbane School of Distance Education. Click the two links below to view the school's official web pages:

In my spare time, one of my favourite hobbies is reading. Many of the Braille and audio books I read come from the vision australia foundation library. Click here to check out their catalogue. To find out about some of the books I have read, click here, and to check out what I'm reading at the moment, visit here.

As well as reading, I sometimes find it satisfying to write. For Tania is a poem in memory of a young woman who lost her battle with lieukemia. it is dedicated to her, and to all the other Tanya's out there who touch our lives, but whose flames are tragically extinguished far too soon.

Something else I have always been keen on is listening to the radio. At different times, I can be found listening to any of the following stations for their music, sporting, or informational content.

  1. ABC on-line
  2. ABc Radio National
  3. ABC Grandstand
  4. 97.3FM
  5. 96FIVE FM, Brisbane's positive alternative
  6. Classic hits 4KQ
  7. 98.9 Murri country
  8. I1197 which plays a selection of top 40 and dance.

In addition to the traditional radio, I also love listening to music on line, using the wonderful Winamp player.

Thanks to our shared love for music, and an exciting piece of software called OTSJUKE DJ, I have been prompted to venture into the realm of internet broadcasting. I can now be heard each week, presenting a show I call The Happy Hour, on ACB radio interactive.

None of these computer activities would be possible, , the word processing, the e-mail, the broadcasting, the websurfing, were it not for the screen access program Jaws For Windows from Freedom Scientific. So, on this note, perhaps I should let Jaws For Windows have the last word.
